inquirED has developed a set of 21st Century Skills based on the framework created by the Partnership for 21st Century Learning (P21). We believe that these skills will prepare students to thrive in college, take action in their careers, and become active and informed participants in our democracy. Each inquirED lesson plan targets one or more of these skills and provides formative and summative assessments to measure their development.
Craftsmanship: Student demonstrates grade-appropriate quality workmanship in physical products through neatness, sturdiness, attention to detail, and appropriate application of tools.
Professionalism: Student demonstrates age-appropriate professionalism when presenting work through body, voice, and demeanor.
Communication: Student presents information, findings, and supporting evidence so an audience can follow their line of reasoning. The organization, development, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.
Creative Problem Solving: Student explores a variety of solutions to a challenge, contributing and selecting valuable new ideas and making revisions, in order to create a successful product.
Media Literacy: Student makes strategic use of digital media and visual displays of data to express information and enhance understanding of presentations. Skill with media and quality of digital product are appropriate for grade. Students are thoughtful consumers of media.
Collaboration and Leadership: Student demonstrates the ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse teams, demonstrating a willingness to compromise, assume shared responsibility, and value individual contributions made by each team member.
Critical Thinking: Student analyzes, interprets, and reflects upon information and experiences to draw conclusions. Student generates and asks critical questions.
Growth Mindset: Student seeks and receives feedback to improve work and make adjustments in the future. Student perceives setbacks as opportunities for growth.
